Once there was a man walking along a beach, the sun was shining
 and it was a beautiful day.

Off in the distance he could see a young boy going back and forth between

the surfs edge and the sandy beach, back and forth the boy went.

As the man approached, he could see that there were hundreds of starfish
stranded on the sands as a result of the natural motion of the tide.

the man was struck by the futility of the situation.There were far too many
starfish,many of them destined to die.

As he approached, the boy continued his task of picking them up,
one by one, and throwing them back into the sea.

As he came up to the boy he said, " you must be crazy,
there are miles of beach and hundreds of starfish,
 you can,t possibly make a difference! "

The boy looked at him as he bent down and gently picked up another starfish,
 and he threw it back into the sea. He turned and looked at the man and said;

"BUT IT MADE A DIFFERENCE TO THAT ONE "

I like to take this story as my philosophy of life. If we can go about our daily tasks and routine and do just the smallest thing for just ONE person, then we might just MAKE A DIFFERENCE !
It could be a smile, a kind word, a helpful deed, or maybe a listening ear. The tiniest actions can sometimes make the most difference.
Every day I try to do just one thing that has cost me nothing, i.e. cannot be bought or paid for, for 1 person. Try it for yourselves, it is amazing how easy it is to be helpful.
